| This page provides information about my company, Debarel Systems Ltd. I had a long career in Information Technology with my last position being the Chief Information Officer for TRIUMF, Canada's National Laboratory for research into Particle Physics and Nuclear Medicine. With a large data centre supporting the Large Hadron Collider in CERN as well as up to 500 overseas researchers and the usual HR, Finance and Productivity applications it was a busy and fulfilling role that I held for more than 5 years. More details regarding my career can be found at LinkedIn and in my resume. At several times during my career I did I.T. consulting as a full-time job and in retirement I have taken on a few engagements. Most recently I helped Thompson River University craft a Request For Proposal for a new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. That was followed with a project to re-architect the TRU Sharepoint Site. In 2024 I worked with Simon Fraser University to get a software development project off to a good start. My areas of expertise include all aspects of Information Technology including networking and VOIP/SIP telecommunications, Identity Management, Financial and Business Productivity software, and A/V facilities. I have worked in the following industries: resource assessment (Geological Survey of Canada), Oil & Gas, Telecommunications (Telus), Insurance (ICBC), Post-Secondary (BCIT, TRU, SFU) and research (TRIUMF). In addition to the skills and expertise developed during my career I have pursued research into sustainable technologies and have blogged extensively on related topics. |
